Open to high school students (students enrolled in grades 9-12 during the 2024-2025 school year) only.
Come learn from the people who made – and continue to make – the Muscle Shoals Sound the phenomenon it is. You will take classes from the music makers, hear their stories in panel discussions, perform on the stage where so many of them have made music, and visit the studios where the magic began – FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound.
Week-Long Music Experience!
During the week-long music experience June 10-14, 2024, campers will learn from music professionals who work in the studios that put Muscle Shoals on the map and University of North Alabama professors from the School of the Arts, the Department of Music, and the Department of Entertainment Industry. The curriculum covers everything from musical composition to negotiating contracts.
Songwriting and Live Performance!
Additionally, upon arrival at camp, campers will be formed into bands. Over the course of the week, each group of campers will work together to write and record a song.
The Story Behind the Muscle Shoals Sound!
Campers will also learn about the history of music in Muscle Shoals, touring the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, as well as the studios themselves. Hearing stories from the musicians, songwriters, and engineers themselves is also part of the experience!
